Services We Provide
Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical engineering incorporates the evaluation of earth materials and development of design parameters of soils for design of civil structures. Haro, Kasunich & Associates (HKA) staff has completed projects for both private and public clients, including landslide repairs, hillside improvement modifications, residential subdivisions, commercial buildings, parks, schools, hospitals and public infrastructure (including major bridges) projects. Our services include the following:
Feasibility-Level Investigations
Preliminary and Design-Level Geotechnical Engineering Investigations
Foundation Investigations
Conventional spread footings
Mat slab
Pile foundations
Drilled shafts
Retaining wall design
Solider Pile
Tie-back walls
Pipeline Investigations
Pavement Analysis and Designs
Slope Stability Studies
Levee/Dam Services
Distressed Structure Surveys
Drilled Pier Observations
Helical Pier/Anchor Foundation Analysis
Liquefaction Potential/Analysis
Earthquake Engineering
Geotechnical-related Plan Reviews
COASTAL ENGINEERING
Coastal engineering services, combined with geotechnical engineering services, are an extension of the evaluation of earth materials influenced by the coastal processes. Both are used for development of engineering of soils and rock for design of coastal protection and/or civil structures. HKA here too have completed numerous coastal engineering projects for both public and private clients, including residences, commercial and public projects within the coastal influence. Our services include the following:
Coastal Protection Facilities
Sea Walls
Wharf pier structures
Coastal Erosion Process Studies
Bluff Stability Studies
Coastal foundations
Coastal walls
Waterfront structures
Wave runup analysis
Sea wall and revetment inspections
Earthwork Construction Testing and support
Geotechnical engineering services continue into the earthwork construction phase as Earthwork and Observation and Testing. Backed by our engineering staff, our technicians observe and test earthwork construction, document the contractor’s compliance with the project plans and specifications and provide constructive participation with the construction team to correct deficiencies while not directing the contractors operations. Specification functions of the HKA’s staff include:
Pre-construction participation with the Client
Borrow Source Evaluation
Nuclear Gauge Compaction Testing
Engineered fill Quality Assurance and Testing
Aggregate Testing
Foundation Excavation Observations
Lime/Cement Stabilization
Utility Trench Backfill Compaction Testing
CIVIL ENGINEERing
Grading and drainage plans
Retaining wall plans
FORENSIC ENGINEERING & LITIGATION
Expert witness
Laboratory and field Testing Services
HKA provides a variety of testing services not only in support of its own earthwork and construction materials staff, but also for other members of the construction industry. HKA in collaboration with Cooper Testing Services provide a wide variety of tests. A partial list is presented. For a full list of testing service contact our office.
